Regarding the shift from “Enterprise” era unisex jumpsuits to Original Series era miniskirts
“I like to imagine that the miniskirts weren’t Federation regulation. Women on every other ship in the fleet wore jumpsuits like everybody else.
However, since Kirk could seduce rocks with his Vaseline-lensed close-up gaze, all the women on the Enterprise wore skimpy skirts and low-cut shirts in an attempt to gain his attention.
In fact, his powers of seduction were so well-known that when a planet learned that the Enterprise was en route, its female population almost instinctively began dressing as provocatively as possible. This obvious emasculation by an alien male caused the male population to get all manner of pissy. That’s why so many of them were really hard to get along with.”

LOLLLLL I was reading this thread earlier today, but this comment wasn’t there yet. This explains so much about TOS though, I almost believe it’s true.

I have a better idea! It involves very small skirts and ignoring what’s happening on the TV. ;D
