Scott Adsit is best known as Pete Hornberger, but 30 Rock wasn’t his first NBC sitcom experience. He appeared in an episode of Friends titled “The One With Ross and Monica’s Cousin” as the director of a movie Joey auditions for. If we remember correctly this is the episode where Joey wrapped his junk in deli meat to make it look more…shall we say…natural? Yeah. That was so edgy.

HAPPY ANNA HOWARD SHAW DAY

• While at Albion College, Shaw became a licensed preacher for three years and earned her wages by giving lectures on temperance because her family refused to support her chosen career path.
• She was the only woman in her class of 42 men at Boston University School of Theology. She became the first woman in America to be ordained under the Methodist Protestant Church in 1880.
• As a minister, Shaw would not perform a marriage ceremony in which it was insisted that the word “obey” be used.
• Shaw received an M.D. from Boston University in 1886. During her time in medical school, Shaw became an outspoken advocate of political rights for women.
• Shaw’s life partner, Lucy E. Anthony, was Susan B. Anthony’s niece, and “Aunt Susan” sponsored Shaw’s ascendancy in the National American Woman Suffrage Association as National Lecturer in 1890 and Vice President at Large in 1892.
• Shaw played a key role in merging the American Woman Suffrage Association and the National Woman Suffrage Association which she presided over for eleven years, lobbying for a constitutional amendment granting women the right to vote. Her administration was marked by unprecedented progress. The number of suffrage workers increased from 17,000 to 200,000, and one campaign in ten years was replaced by ten in one year; the expenditures of the association increased from $15,000 to $50,000 annually.
• During World War I, Shaw was head of the Women’s Committee of the United States Council of National Defense, for which she became the first woman to earn the Distinguished Service Medal.

Over the course of six seasons, Jack has been fully transformed into a condescending, all-knowing daddy, and Liz has been fully transformed into a needy little girl who is eternally terrified of displeasing him. She’s always had a grudging respect for him, but now she simply reveres him and trusts his judgment more than hers. She was once frazzled but smart, harried but competent, capable of wrangling a bunch of crazy people and then slumping at the end of the day, exhausted but minimally victorious. Now, she’s just dumb, incapable of making her own decisions, and her relationship with Jack is entirely out of balance.
