Internet Posting Helped Sandusky Investigators - NYTimes.com

This is a really good article that explains how the entire case against Sandusky unfolded.

"My heart aches for Sandusky’s victims but also for every Penn State student who has survived abuse and who has to step onto that campus tomorrow, look around, and wonder just who is callous enough to have been rioting last night in support of a man who could have stopped the abuse but didn’t."

Are Penn State Fans Really Kneeling in Prayer outside of Paterno’s Home?
Yep
Penn State raised $22,584 today for child abuse victims. Or 21 cents for every person at the game.
We Are Cheap State!

I won’t say anything to defend the fans kneeling in prayer outside of JoPas house because they’re obviously morons, but I would like to point out that Penn State students and alumni have actually raised $293,106 for child abuse victims and that that amount continues to grow. I wish the number was higher because after the way the Penn State students reacted on Wednesday night, they certainly owe that much more to RAINN, but still, two hundred thousand plus dollars is nothing to sneeze at.

Jon Stewart took to The Daily Show last night (11/10/11) to talk about the Penn State child sexual abuse scandal, and gave a serious commentary about how people knew of Sandusky’s abuse and didn’t do anything, as well as the recent student rioting over the firing of coach Joe Paterno.

"I can’t escape it. I’ve been going to minimal classes, because every class I go to I get sick to my stomach. People are making jokes about it. I understand they don’t know I’m involved and it was my brother, but it’s still really hard to swallow that."

If you can read only part of the 23-page PSU indictment, read the section about ‘Victim 2.’ - as it is, that part is seven of the 23 pages.

Read this, and let me know if you think  Joe Paterno and Penn State President Graham Spanier did everything they needed to do in this situation.

Note: Not trying to downplay the circumstances of the other seven victims named in the indictment, just trying to be realistic about how much time people are going to invest in this document.

Trigger warning. Read this.

True Penn State pride means standing up to an institution that you love when it’s done something wrong because you want to see it do what is right.
Now can we stop talking about how poorly this whole situation was handled by literally everyone involved and focus our attention on how to achieve justice for Sandusky’s victims?

Someone who went to Penn State sent this to me. Riddled with misinformation.
Any other Penn State students/alumni, feel free to send in dumb stuff from your Timeline today.

You know, I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by how much of my newsfeed has been students and alums denouncing the riots and urging people to bring the focus back to Sandusky and what he did to those children. Maybe it’s just because my friends from Penn State aren’t assholes, but there are Penn State students and alums out there who are completely ashamed of the way most of the student body reacted last night.

The Riot That Should Have Never Happened - Onward State

"We have been worried about the unwarranted shame that Sandusky and those involved has brought to Penn State, but the shame is on us now. Throughout the entire riot, students were screaming “WE ARE PENN STATE.” However, if our actions last night are what Penn State symbolizes, then I want nothing to do with Penn State."

Right now I’m definitely feeling like I want nothing to do with Penn State. I hated it when I first started there, largely because of the groupthink mentality surrounding football, I came to love it there because of Phroth, but with the way this whole situation unfolded, it’ll be awhile before I can call myself a Penn State alum and feel proud about it again.

Thank you, Joepa. Now where is the apology from the university for how this whole situation was handled?
