VIDEO: “Iran, We Love You. We Will Never Bomb You.” (You’ll Never Guess Who Said It!)

Let’s just elect this guy president of ALL the Middle East, OK?

Okay, so the Israeli version of The Office might be my favorite.

So why can’t I find a decent torrent of it?

It’s called Hamisrad (המשרד). I can’t find it anywhere. Help, please?

It's only logical: Mr. Spock supports two-state solution for Mideast peace ›

With a reference to the classic Star Trek episode, ‘Let That Be Your Last Battlefield’:

“Two men, half black, half white, are the last survivors of their peoples who have been at war with each other for thousands of years, yet the Enterprise crew could find no differences separating these two raging men,” Nimoy added, saying: “But the antagonists were keenly aware of their differences—one man was white on the right side, the other was black on the right side. And they were prepared to battle to the death to defend the memory of their people who died from the atrocities committed by the other.”

“The story was a myth, of course, and by invoking it I don’t mean to belittle the very real issues that divide Israelis and Palestinians. What I do mean to suggest is that the time for recriminations is over,” the former TV star said, concluding that “assigning blame over all other priorities is self-defeating. Myth can be a snare. The two sides need our help to evade the snare and search for a way to compromise. “

Well said, Mr. Nimoy. Well said.

“Diva” by Dana International (1998 Eurovision Winner)

Dana International (דנה אינטרנשיונל)‎, is an Israeli pop singer and is arguably one of the most famous transsexual celebrities.

She is most famous for having won the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham with her song “Diva”. Her career began in 1992, and since then she has released eight albums and three additionalcompilation albums, positioning herself as one of Israel’s most successful musical acts ever. She recently became one of the judges on Israeli Pop Idol, Kokhav Nolad. [Wikipedia]

I first encountered Dana International in middle school when I used to do Israeli dance. It’s one of the only songs I remember (aside from Neshika, which was actually Turkish, and Popcorn, which didn’t really have lyrics) mostly because it was our big finale performance number, but it’s always a great morale booster on a slow day. It’s a true gay anthem, and is totally worth a listen. If you want to hear the English lyrics, click here.

The 8 Most Ridiculously Badass Protesters Ever Photographed

#8. Shield Maiden: Twenty riot police on full charge, against one old Jewish woman, and She. Is. Holding.

She looks like she’d be denied a part in a LifeAlert commercial on the grounds of frailty, and here she is Gandalfing the holy shit out of two dozen riot cops.

Two things had to have happened after this photo: One, every single one of those cops turned around, went home, called their mothers and apologized for every cross word they’d ever said. And two: One very old Jewish lady picked herself up, dusted off her apron, walked calmly back to her home, closed the door, took a deep breath, hurled the stove through the wall to vent the excess energy, and then quietly finished scrubbing up.
