It’s funny because it’s Jared Padalecki.
it’s even funnier because he’s eating a salad
It’s even funnier because his character’s name is Dean
even funnier because he worked at Moose’s Market

Supernatural regularly includes references to various famous figures and Neil Gaiman is no exception. Eric Kripke mentioned at Comic-Con 2007 how much of an influence Mr. Gaiman is on the show, saying “I was hoping I would meet [Neil Gaiman] because he’s a huge influence on Supernatural, between American Gods and Sandman” and mentioning after he did in fact meet Neil Gaiman, “I’m such a fan of Neil, and he’s every bit as smart as promised and every bit as cool and down-to-earth, and I just loved my conversations with him… I’ve ripped off Neil front, right and centre. I mean Supernatural is basically ‘Sandman meets American Gods.’”
Neil’s influence on the show is evident in multiple ways, most notably:
- Tessa the Reaper looks remarkably similar to Death from Sandman. In the companion book for season 2 of Supernatural, Death is confirmed as having been the inspiration for the character of Tessa.
- Castiel’s main wardrobe (most notably the trench coat) is almost directly based off of the character of John Constantine, a figure from both the Hellblazer series and Sandman.
Crowley’s character from Supernatural is more than likely a shout out to the character of the same name from Gaiman’s Good Omens.

If life was an episode of Supernatural, Hurricane Sandy would be the soul of a 19th century immigrant girl in NYC who died working in a Satanist’s shirtwaist factory, but who also was a dollhouse enthusiast with no friends.
“PLAY WITH ME.”
ALSO EVERYONE BE SAFE!
The solution to this problem would then also be a combination of salt and manpain. I just don’t see that working out so well.
