Basically it’s questioning whether it will be harder for Zach to find roles now that he’s out. All right that’s fair because they do clarify that typing of this sort is done whether you are gay, straight, or Charlie Sheen trying out for a Disney role. But this quote is the source of my ire:
“The roles he has always trended toward are either asexual or characters who aren’t in touch with their emotions,” says Bonnie Gillespie, a casting director and creator of the service Get A-Listed. “It’s not like he’s branded in the same way as a Matthew McConaughey or Chris Pine. If it’s Chris Pine in a male lead, we’re gonna want to see some heat.”
Sooo, you’re saying that just because Zach is openly gay and everyone knows it, he can’t play a straight character? Wow, Heath Ledger is rolling in his grave.
Gay people have been playing straight for way longer than straight people have been playing gay in Hollywood. It’s so disappointing that people still feel the need to write articles like this every time an actor comes out of the closet. Ugh.
@GeorgeTakei: Set your phasers to “Stunning!” Zach Quinto comes out, doubling the number of the out Trek Family. http://ow.ly/70UP9
